More than thirty years ago, the founders of Discerning Collection, Nick and Viv Wrightman, were the first to introduce British holidaymakers to the beautiful harbour town of Kalkan through their original company, Tapestry Holidays.
Tapestry Holidays became known for introducing guests to beautiful, often little-known corners of the Mediterranean, with a level of personal service that made every holiday feel effortlessly well organised. There were thoughtful little touches, too, not least the famous Tapestry towels, which appeared in a different colour each year and became something of a tradition among returning guests.
Kalkan, in particular, captured people’s hearts. Its picturesque harbour, welcoming restaurants and genuine Turkish hospitality made it somewhere guests returned to year after year. And with Tapestry, there was always the reassurance that every detail had been considered, leaving guests free to simply enjoy their holiday.
In 2027, we’re bringing a little of that Tapestry spirit back.
Introducing The Tapestry Weeks at Asfiya Sea View
For two special periods, 5–19 June and 4–18 September 2027, we’ll be celebrating our Tapestry Holidays heritage at Asfiya Sea View Hotel, one of Kalkan’s much-loved boutique hotels.
Many former Tapestry guests will remember the original Asfiya Hotel, which holds a special place in Kalkan’s holiday history. Although Asfiya Sea View is a different property, its extensive refurbishment in 2026 and our exciting new chapter with the hotel’s owners have made it a wonderful setting for the Tapestry Weeks. With beautifully renewed accommodation, lovely views across Kalkan Bay and a shared enthusiasm for bringing back some of those much-loved traditions, it feels like just the right place to begin making new memories.
The Return of Some Much-Loved Traditions
During the Tapestry Weeks, guests can look forward to:
Complimentary afternoon Turkish çay and freshly baked cake by the pool, every day.
A special evening of live music and dining each week, with dinner payable locally.
The pleasure of familiar faces, new friendships and spending time with others who share a love of Kalkan.
And, of course, our dedicated local concierge team will be there to help with everything from restaurant reservations and personal recommendations to private boat days, guided walks and discovering more of the surrounding coastline.
