We are beyond excited to announce that The Discerning Collection in collaboration with Seabourn, our ultra-luxury intimate cruising partner, are launching expedition cruising. Our expeditions at sea will allow guests the opportunity to feel a deeper connection to abundant wildlife, visit more remote locations and gain a more expansive view of the world’s dramatic landscapes together with a serene sense of solitude and one in a lifetime experience.
For us Seabourn is our perfect partner, the cruising vessels are more akin to large yachts than bigger traditional cruise ships. As they are smaller they are also able to reach places larger ships can’t. Furthermore the vessels are beautifully designed to ensure maximum onboard comfort, they are equipped with all the finer things you might wish to enjoy while on a once in a lifetime voyage. The superb concierge teams are on hand to serve and ensure you have everything you need for a memorable stay. The amenities available extend to land in the form of customizable excursions and equipment so you can get to places that would otherwise be inaccessible.
Seabourn Pursuit was delivered on 31st July 2023 one year after her sister ship, Venture. Pursuit is the latest addition to the ultra-luxurios Seabourn fleet. She is purpose built for exploring remote destinations and due to her size she is able to visit extraordinary wonders that larger cruise ships cannot access. In addition, she offers guests world-class comforts, unique experiences and intuitive service.
Seabourn Pursuit has been meticulously designed and built for diverse environments to PC6 Polar Class standards and includes modern hardware together with technology that will extend the ships’ global deployment and capabilities. She carries two custom-built submarines, 24 Zodiacs, kayaks, and a 24-person expert Expedition Team enabling guests to engage in up-close wildlife encounters, off-the-beaten path excursions, and enriching cultural experiences. Pursuit blends state-of-the art capability with world-class service and luxury comfort in a fully-inclusive “yacht” like atmosphere.
What to expect?
We like to think of a Seabourn Expedition as an ultra-luxury Safari at Sea. Pursuit is your richly-appointed base camp and your guides are Seabourn’s elite Expedition Team. Your 4×4 is interchangeable depending on what each day brings in the way of flora and fauna it might be a zodiac , kayak, or six-person submarine that allows you to encounter rare creatures in the wild where unexpected discovery and sights will unfold from moment to moment.

Our voyages at sea will take in some bucket list destinations including; journeys to Antarctica, the South Pacific and the Kimberley region. We have presented an array of itineraries and departure dates for your consideration, however if what you are seeking to do is not listed, it is always worth giving us a call as we only present a facet of what is available here. Discovery Centre
The Discovery Centre is situated adjacent to the Expedition Lounge on Deck 4 and it is used as the teaching & academic centre for natural history and cultural programming and it has enough space to accommodate all guests at the same time. Each day, guests are invited to visit the Discovery Centre to enjoy insightful lectures, briefings, and Seabourn Conversations enrichment programme designed to further enhance the expedition experience. The world-class 26-person expedition team of wilderness experts, scientists, historians and naturalists will deliver rich, insightful lectures and discussions on a broad array of topics related to the region where guests are sailing. Inspired by the compelling landscape of some of the expedition destinations, the Discovery Centre incorporates the organic shapes of topography maps against the elegant curves of the plush custom seating.

Enjoy fascinating Seabourn Conversations sessions with guest experts from the fields of arts, history, science, and more.
Landing Zone
The Landing Zone is the area where exploration begins ( launch and return points for landings). There are two landing zones, port and starboard side on Deck 3. The area is extremely spacious and is kitted out for guests t change and clean their gear in comfort, as well as a place to store excursion essentials such as boots. It’s designed for functionality, accessibility and ease, offering direct access to one of the 24 Zodiacs available for Ventures by Seabourn® adventures. In tropical areas, it’s the place to kick off scuba, snorkelling and similar undersea adventures.
Seabourn Submarines: The Expedition
Discover the wonders that wait under the water in Seabourn’s luxurious new expedition submarines. What could be more special than a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the wonders of the ocean floor in the comfort of Seabourn’s custom built submarines. Expect to see incredible sunken shipwrecks, stunning coral reefs and unique marine wildlife which is otherwise unavailable (sea life will of course vary from region to region).
Each environmentally friendly, battery-powered sub carries just seven people — six guests, three each in two clear acrylic spheres — plus the highly trained pilot guiding the journey. These intimate and innovative new exploration vehicles are capable of diving to depths of 300 meters (984 feet) offering passengers an awe-inspiring perspective of the marine world just outside. Thanks to undisturbed and undistorted views in virtually all directions you’ll come face-to-face with the wonders that lie beneath.
Not only will passengers be kept dry and comfortable while the submarine dives under the sea, in keeping with the ultra-luxury experience found on Seabourn, subs are outfitted with custom-embroidered leather upholstery, a Bluetooth stereo system, air conditioning, and champagne chiller so you can toast your extraordinary journey.
The subs are also fitted with a high-tech, 4K underwater video camera system that will capture your underwater experience. The videos will be screened in Seabourn Venture’s Discovery Centre for workshops and conversations with guests that are led by marine biologist or oceanographer Expeditions leaders.

Dining
Seabourn Pursuit proudly offers exceptional dining options for every occasion. Each of the settings enjoys a unique ambience and of course award-winning cuisine. For so many of us a holiday is as much about the cuisine as it is the other services, experiences and facilities to this end Seabourn does its utmost to ensure exceptional service and stunning dishes- it is no coincidence that Seabourn has a firm foodie following. Dining while aboard is always complimentary as are the fine wines served with lunch and dinner.
The Restaurant
The Restaurant is an elegant dining space, with beautifully dressed tables, the cuisine is exquisite, and the service flawless enjoy a friendly and relaxed dining atmosphere.
The Colonnade
A casual, indoor/ outdoor alternative for breakfasts and lunch. Menu choices change daily and are regionally themed enjoy a languid buffet style meal or you can request table service. The Colonnade is also open for bistro style dinners. The atmosphere is relaxed, ideal for lazy days.
Seabourn Square
Seabourn Square is just the perfect place to relax while enjoying your newspaper or socialising with fellow passengers. Seabourn Square is the beating heart and focal place to gather on all of the Seabourn ships, it very much has a home from home ‘sitting room’ vibe. It is an inviting sociable space where guests will find a charming European style coffee bar and it is an open, comfortable environment for guests to interact with onboard officers and the expedition team as well as engage in conversation with family and new friends. The space is also home to the highly-trained Guest Services staff, who provide a range of concierge services such as general ship information, assistance with special service requests, port travel information, and more.
A selection of coffees are prepared by the skilled onboard baristas some using beans roasted in Seabourn Square. For those feeling somewhat peckish, Seabourn Square offers freshly made pastries and on-the-go breakfast items in the morning, as well as an assortment of light sandwiches and desserts later in the day, along with a selection of artisanal gelati made on board. Guests will also find a wide range of books in the adjoining library, with a host of titles on subjects such as adventure, expeditions and other topics of interest to enjoy while onboard. Staying current with the news is made easy with a selection of printed newspapers from around the world and tablets featuring the Press Reader news application available to browse each day.
The Constellation Lounge
The Constellation Lounge is the highest indoor viewing point on each ship. Floor-to-ceiling glass walls wrap around the space, offering guests stunning 270-degree, outward-facing views as far as their eyes can see, heightening their expeditionary spirit while bringing them closer to wildlife and wonders at sea and in port.
In addition, the expedition team will be in the lounge regularly to help identify points of interest, wildlife and geological wonders. The Constellation Lounge offers Seabourn’s popular Early Morning Riser continental breakfast, while afternoons feature the line’s popular and recently enhanced Afternoon Tea service. Steeped in the tradition of proper English tea service, yet as fresh and memorable as a newly brewed pot, the elegant daily tea service incorporates the finest luxury tea brand TWG Tea. As the sun dips and the night sky lights up, live piano entertainment delights guests as cocktails and tapas are served both before and after dinner.
The Club – Sushi
Available nightly between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., “Sushi in the Club” will offer fresh sushi bites and unique sake offerings, and guests will enjoy a menu featuring the finest ingredients that blend authenticity with a twist of Seabourn’s culinary expertise.
The Bow Lounge
Located on Deck 6, at the forward-most part of the vessel, the Bow Lounge provides the closest access to water level via the foredeck, making it the perfect spot for guests to spend some time watching for marine life. Within a few steps, guests can be outside, with a vantage point that is ideal to watch the ship’s course, spot wildlife, or take in the beautiful natural scenery.
The Bow Lounge introduces some technological enhancements, providing guests with a first for Seabourn with touch screens showing the ship’s plotted location, as well as navigational charts and scientific information used to help guide the ship on its journey. Large screens project live footage from mounted cameras outside the ship, and from a drone when conditions permit, while the touch screen monitors invite guests to explore on their own with a live map, weather information, and notes detailing upcoming expeditions. Expedition Team members will be available within the Lounge throughout the day to interact with guests, answer questions, provide interpretation and aid in spotting wildlife.
The space provides direct access to the Bow Sprit on Deck 6 forward (when conditions permit) to give guests the sensation of standing in front of the ship and views of waves parting and ice sloughing off the bow at the waterline.
Expedition Lounge
The Expedition Lounge, located on Deck 4, is the heart of the ship. A gathering place for the curious, guests are invited to relax or linger with a complimentary cocktail or glass of fine wine from the bar as they share photos and stories from the day with their fellow travellers and the onboard staff. The Expedition Lounge will be central to the Seabourn expedition operation where guests convene before and after expeditions each day.
Custom furniture designed in a variety of warm, natural materials creates an inviting, tactile atmosphere. An ode to the adventurous, the Expedition Lounge features an etched glass partition displaying a vintage map of Antarctica and vitrines showcasing intricate tools and devices of the trade. Two large touchscreens will also display a wealth of information including photos, navigational charts, weather charts, and maps.
In-Suite Dining
Seabourn is delighted to offer a delightful menu that is available around the clock which can be enjoyed in the privacy of your suite. There is also the opportunity to order dinner from ‘The Restaurant’ menu and have your meal served course by course in your suite or on your veranda- what could be more magical than dining under a canopy of stars at your leisure.

Fitness Centre
Spa & Wellness, Seabourn offers guests an onboard wellness program, that focuses on mindful living (along with some major pampering). Even if you don’t wish to partake in the program it is a great space to maintain any health and fitness routines you enjoy at home- there is state-of-the-art equipment and luxurious amenities.

The Spa and wellness centre offers an enormous array of gorgeous treatments whether you are looking for a brand new look, a super relaxing massage or just a quick blow dry there is something for everyone. As you would expect, the Spa & Salon is a blissful oasis of comfort the perfect place to relax in utter peace and tranquility. What could be more tempting that unwinding here after an offshore excursion adventure. In addition to one off treatments guests are also offered to opt into a wellness program should they wish to, based on Dr. Weil’s groundbreaking research and bestselling books, the program incorporates holistic mind practices and wellness. For us Antarctica is one of the most extraordinary places on the earth, being one of the most remote and coldest places on earth, travel is limited to November- March.
Antarctica — has lay very much alone for most of recorded time, beyond the margins of the known world. Even after someone stumbled on it, its isolation and the necessary rigors of the journey kept all but the most intrepid away. Those who did return ran short of superlatives to describe its magnificence particularly of phenomenal geographical structures such as towering icebergs and ginormous glaciers.

The majority of the Seabourn cruises depart on a Sunday, with this in mind we would recommend flying in the day before and staying overnight in a hotel near the port prior to departing. We can of course assist with this or should you prefer to make your own arrangement you are of course welcome to do so.

We will be delighted to make the transfer arrangements on your behalf.
Flights: The benefit of booking your flights as part of the package means that you are completely covered for all the services and your booking will be booked as a package holiday under the Seabourn ATOL license or ours depending on whether you decide to add a stay on land, which means you have complete reassurance and peace of mind. We will then check you in and send you all the necessary documents, you have nothing to do, except pack and look forward to your holiday!
Payments: To book a holiday we require a deposit of 40% (this can vary from cruise to cruise) plus the full cost of the flights with the balance due at least 14 weeks prior to arrival. By sending us the deposit you agree to our terms and conditions.

Complimentary Seabourn Polar Shield Set
We are delighted to inform you that as a guest of Seabourn voyaging to Antarctica or the Arctic, you will receive a complimentary Parka and pack, this will be delivered to you onboard your expedition vessel. To order yours, please follow the following steps. The Polar Shield Parka & Water shield Pack Set is made exclusively for Seabourn by Helly Hansen.
- Please select your sailing date and parka size from the selection list you see on the link (click here) and add your complimentary parka to your shopping cart.
- Shop for any additional items you may need for your adventure and proceed to check-out.
You will be asked for your billing and shipping address at check-out. This is a default function of the online store and so despite the order confirmation detail emailed to you, REST ASSURED, your complimentary parka & pack will be delivered to you onboard the ship.
Any other items you may purchase for your adventure (waterproof trousers with zips on the sides, gloves, hats base layers, vests “Over the Calf” Boot Socks, “Puffy” Vest, Neck Gaiter…) while making your parka selection will be sent to your home prior to your departure.
