Built as the hunting lodge of Count Giuseppe Feltrinelli, the house retains the atmosphere of a grand private residence, its rooms filled with antique furniture, paintings, old maps and curious objects gathered by the owners over many years.
From its hillside perch some 400 metres above the water, the villa gazes across Lake Garda and the mountains beyond. Terraces and manicured gardens unfold gently towards the lake below, while the pool occupies one of the most spectacular viewpoints on the estate. For much of the day there is little sound beyond birdsong – a pin-drop atmosphere broken only by the occasional splash of someone diving into the pool.
Accommodation sits between the historic villa and a beautifully converted barn annexe. The main house holds nine rooms with original oak floors and late nineteenth-century windows and doors, while the annexe offers ten rooms with a slightly more contemporary feel. Villa Sostaga feels far more like staying at your most decadent friend’s lake house than a conventional hotel. Built in the late nineteenth century as Count Giuseppe Feltrinelli’s hunting lodge, the villa sits high above Lake Garda within wooded grounds that open towards sweeping lake views. Inside, rooms are filled with antique furniture, paintings and objects gathered by the owners . Owner Francesco Seresina is very much present, welcoming guests and sharing his passion for wine, while a loyal team – many here for over a decade – create the warm, convivial atmosphere that makes the house so special.
