The problem with most transfers in Turkey is that they can be a little on the long side. Transfers to the Asfiya Sea View or Likya Residence and Spa in Kalkan from Dalaman, for example, are about 1 hour and 30 minutes and that’s with a car. If you’re on a coach it will definitely be longer. Transfers to the the Kekik or Poseidon in the  Bozburun peninsula are even longer. We at Discerning Collection are trying our utmost to reduce the transfer time without, of course, treating the transfer as a Grand prix event! And we’re also trying to make the journey more comfortable.

I’ve recently returned from Turkey and following a very productive meeting with our transfer company we have decided that all our transfers will be by private car which will be either a Renault Fluence or Dacia Duster or, if the party size is over two, a Mercedes Vito.

This guarantees two things: the first is that the journey will be comfortable and the second is that it will take only an hour and a half to Kalkan maximum. We also endeavour to go directly to the hotel so you won’t be stopping at 3 or 4 or even 5 other properties before finally arriving at your chosen hotel or villa. So if you’ve booked the Asfiya Hotel we’ll transfer you direct to the hotel without any unnecessary stops. Coaches are an inexpensive form of transport but we reckon that after a 4 hour flight from the UK all our guests really want is to be met and put on a comfortable vehicle and to be taken straight to their hotel. And they certainly don’t want an unscheduled comfort stop simply so that the driver can have a smoke or that you have to purchase a drink etc. with perhaps commission going to the driver. We just don’t tolerate this and it will never happen on our transfers.

Because we can have arrivals on any day of the week often our transfers are by private car as we don’t have hordes of arrivals on any one day. So whilst our guests may have booked a shared transfer it often is the case that they will be travelling to or from the airport by private car. Thankfully we will never be putting our guests on a coach with 30 to 40 other guests. A twelve seater Sprinter is our biggest transfer vehicle and it is very rarely used for airport transfers.

So if you want a quality transfer, with polite drivers who will get you to your accommodation in a timely, efficient and comfortable manner then make sure you use a tour operator that genuinely cares about how you get from A to B……and that’s us at The Discerning Collection!
