The pretty and petite seaside village of Parga is quite simply stunning. Once a thriving Venetian port, today it is arguably the mainland’s finest destination, the region is home to pastel coloured houses and traditional architecture. Located in north western Greece in the Epirus region, it is possibly one of the best kept secrets. The village has the atmosphere and ambience of the neighbouring Ionian islands and until recently, inaccessibility to the region has left the area beautifully untouched. The turquoise waters are known for their gently shelving shores which are particularly welcome when travelling with smalls and the region is famed for having some of the best beaches in the Ionian.  Hairpin bends, pine fringed clifftops, plunging green ravines and Grecian coves are just some of the regions finest formations. The area is off the beaten tourist trail to all except the most-in- the- know. For first timers- the province is akin to Positano on the Amalfi Coast and also famed for its abundant lemon trees and olive groves.

The local cuisine is exceptionally good with an excellent selection of restaurants particularly around the promenade served against a backdrop of sea and affording glorious views over the island of Virgin Mary. In the back streets, you will discover small tavernas with shady courtyards peppered with tables and chairs set for long lunches with inventive seafood cuisine from octopus to cuttlefish as well as excellent grilled meats and quintessential but effective favourites such as mousakka and pastitsio.

No visit to Parga is complete without wandering up to the 11^th century Venetian castle and getting lost in the labyrinth of back streets. Pause for a leisurely iced coffee in one of the partially-covered cafes with chequered table cloths and enjoy the far reaching views towards Paxos and Corfu.

As dusk falls and the sun sets on another evening in Parga paradise you absolutely must stroll the promenade and soak up the unique ambience and bustling atmosphere unique to this destination. Cop-a-squat on a brightly coloured cushion on the harbour wall where the restaurants overspill onto the street and they have created a one of a kind seating area so and you can people watch or bay dream to your hearts content.
