Zagoria Villages and Vikos Gorge

A day of exploration with time divided between exploring the picturesque mountain Zagoria Villages and National Park hidden in the Pindos Mountains as well as taking in Vikos Gorge and a tiny 15th Century Monastery.

The tiny villages of Zagoria boast some stunning houses and grand mansions constructed from humble stone, all were once connected by paths and stone bridges. After soaking up the local scene and taking some photos its onto the citadel of Ioannina which sits adjacent to Lake Pamvotis. From here the journey continues to the famous village of Monodendri where we can stroll down to view the remarkable Vikos Gorge and there is also time to visit the tiny 15th Century Monastery of Agia Paraskevi. More photo opportunities are ahead in Oksia  ‘the balcony of Vikos’- a stunning viewpoint, to fully appreciate the impressive gorge (renowned to be the deepest in the world).

The day concludes with a visit to some traditional stone bridges- making a stop at KIPI where you have the opportunity to take photos before retuning back to Parga.
