A charming, authentic Moroccan guest-house in the heart of the bustling Medina
Although Riad Hikaya is a British owned riad and the owner speaks fluent Arabic, French and even the local Moroccan dialect, Darija, which has enabled him to source the finest craftsmen in the Medina to restore this beautiful old riad to its former glory. They have incorporated traditional Moroccan styles such as the smooth, marble-like tadelakt walls and fireplaces, and traditional bejmat floors, whilst ensuring that modern amenities are all available to suit the most discerning guests such as complimentary WiFi access and satellite TV’s in all of the rooms.
Each of the 7 bedrooms are split over the ground and first floors have been painstakingly refurbished, each with their own individual style and personality, and are decorated in local handicrafts, with handmade furniture designed specifically for Riad Hikaya by local artisans.
At the heart of Riad Hikaya is a good-sized plunge pool in the main courtyard (heated in the cooler months). Near the pool, and sitting between the 2 courtyards is the riad’s restaurant where delicious local Moroccan meals and a choice of international dishes are served – unless of course, guests opt to eat on one of the stunning roof terraces.
Riad Hikaya also has 2 beautiful roof terraces with comfy sun-loungers surrounded by fruit trees, 2 caidal tents to relax in the shade, as well as a heated Jacuzzi, traditional hammam and treatment room where you can unwind by enjoying one of Laila’s expert massages. The terraces are just the perfect spot to start your day with a freshly prepared Moroccan breakfast whilst taking in the breath-taking views over the rooftops out towards the majestic snow-capped Atlas Mountains.
Riad Hikaya is centrally located in the Kasbah, just a short walk from the exotic souks, Jemma el Fna Square and the other enchanting sights of Marrakech.
