A one- of- a -kind riad bursting with traditional artefacts and boasting the ultimate front line position with wide screen views over the Atlantic, it is quite simply first class.
Inside, the warm atmosphere and just-so feel of quintessentially Moroccan inspired interiors provide an authentic and relaxing sense of place. It is however thanks to the excellent management and front of house team that guests feel relaxed from the moment they arrive. Indeed, we were unexpected visitors and the welcome we received when we arrived at Mimouna was so warm and we hadn’t even made a reservation.
Sleeping quarters are all individually designed and each has it’s own unique USP. We think it is worth paying a little more to enjoy a room that takes advantage of the staggering Atlantic oceanscapes. You will find it easy to linger, taking in the mesmerizing sound of the waves breaking and the ever changing sea views.
The restaurant occupies the best position of all, located on the top floor of the hotel with large picture windows imbibing the dramatic Atlantic Ocean, diners are invited to sample traditional Moroccan and Berber cuisine as well as plenty of fresh fish caught locally. Guests are welcome to book the hotel on a bed and breakfast, half board or full board basis. Of course, one of the most attractive things about being nestled in the heart of the medina is that you can of course wander to cafes and restaurants however you will struggle to beat the views of Riad Mimouna.
Riad Mimouna enjoys a first class setting at the far end of the Medina, in the Sandillon district, which is named after the builder of Essaouira’s first windmill. For those looking to be in the throng of Essaouira, this is the perfect choice; restaurants and artisan vendors are just a stone’s throw from the riad and the beach is a mere 15-minute stroll.
