Patara Beach Walk

An easy walk taking you through pine forests and across stunning sand dunes in Patara National Park

To get to the start of the walk you will need to take the either the Dolmus or drive to Patara village. When you enter the village, there is a T Junction down in the main square of the village. Turn right here if driving or tell the dolmus driver to let you off at this junction as most dolmuses will carry on along the road to the beach.

Walk down into the village and follow the road that forks left, passing the small bus stop in the village centre. Carry on along this road, past various small hotels/ panysions and past the only large hotel in the village, the Marinem Resort Hotel.

The road carries on uphill from here, passing a housing development on the right and eventually the road forks left by a derelict stone building on the left.

The track then continues through the pine forest that runs behind Patara beach and stops abruptly when you reach the sand dunes. This is a good place to rest and shade and rest until you reach the beach café.

When you are ready to resume walking, walk out of the forest and towards the beach: there is no definite track, simply follow the footprints of others who have done the same route before you. You will eventually reach the shore. Turn left up the beach. In the distance you will see umbrellas which is where the beach café is located.

To return back to Kalkan, follow the path off the beach beside the café and at the end of the wooden walk is a dolmus stop. If you have left a car in the village, follow the road away from the dolmus stop, passing the ruins at Patara, and back up to the village.
