I’ve recently returned from a very brief but ultimately very busy trip to Kalkan in Turkey. Out on Sunday 15th Feb and back on Tuesday 17th Feb. My schedule was arranged to visit some new product in Gocek and to see the improvements being carried out at the lovely Asfiya Sea View in Kalkan.
However, I was also there to assess the viability of opening a brand new hotel on the outskirts of Kalkan that Aslan, our partner, is planning to build.
The potential locations for the new hotel were both on hill tops overlooking Kalkan with incredible views out to sea. If planning permission is granted, this new property would be a lovely, up-market boutique hotel with most rooms having their own pools. It would be far enough away from Kalkan so as not to spoil the lovely ambience that the town offers and with complimentary shuttle services into Kalkan at our guest’s convenience, this would be a very welcome and I’m sure, very sought after addition to our collection. More on this when I have an update in a few weeks!
The Asfiya Sea View is undergoing some enhancements including a new restaurant and a new bar, some new rooms with private pools and, in response to our guest’s feedback, some extra decking for at least another 20 sunbeds. The restaurant will have space for between 40 to 50 covers and there will be a separate bar which will boast stunning sea views which will definitely add to the ambience of this already very successful hotel. Pool rooms 701, 702 and 703 are also going to have an extra 12 square meters of sunbathing space each giving an even more luxurious experience to these rooms. Images of the finished improvements will hopefully be ready at the end of March.
Finally on my way back to Dalaman airport on Tuesday morning I managed to visit two new properties in the cosmopolitan marina town that is Gocek. The Grand Gocek hotel, which is already on our site https://discerningcollection.com/destinations/gocek/?tab=hotels is a sweet 17 room family run hotel within walking distance to the town but also far enough away to be truly peaceful and quiet for a delightful ‘get away from it all’ holiday. The second property was the incredibly impressive D-Resort Hotel. Very up market, very chic and well worth the money! We’ll hopefully have this up on our site by the end of February and if you’re looking for a classy stay in one of the South coast’s lovely marina towns then this is the one for you. It will be a great addition to our portfolio of discerning properties!
