Gocek and Fethiye, two wonderful coastal resorts

Surrounded by lush pine-clad mountains and the azure Mediterranean, Gocek is an incredibly pretty town.

As you enter Gocek, you will see a transformation develop before your eyes, from simple, traditional village life, then as you near the harbour-front, you will notice Gocek is now a chic, cosmopolitan town dotted with many excellent restaurants, bars and boutiques.

Due to the calm, clear waters in this area, and of course the breathtaking natural beauty of the area, Gocek is popular with sailors who moor their yachts at the harbour and pop into town for a meal or to top up on supplies in the many fantastic shops and restaurants.

Gocek is also an ideal spot for sightseeing. To the north there is Dalyan, with its impressive rock tombs and mud baths and boat trips down the river make a great day out for all the family. Slightly further afield, the other side of Fethiye are the ancient ruins of Kayakoy, an old Greek village left abandoned and now waiting to be explored, not to mention the fabulous boat trips around the islands surrounding Gocek.

Just a short drive south, you reach the larger town of Fethiye. Once a bustling fishing town it is now a sophisticated and sprawling harbour town with many wonderful restaurants and shops. There is a famous fish market, and it is also within easy reach of many superb beaches – including Turkey’s most famous beach, Olu Deniz, with it’s splendid blue lagoon.
