Originally built as a school in the 1800’s before becoming a hospital the following century, the Ottoman Imperial is now a charming boutique hotel in a prime position; in the heart of Sultanahmet, boasting magnificent views over the impressive Aya Sofya and Caferaga Medrese, where local craftsmen work on ancient art such as calligraphy, jewellery and ‘Ebru’; traditional Turkish marbling.
There are 52 well-appointed rooms and suites in varying shapes and sizes, but all beautifully furnished in a contemporary Turkish style with an Ottoman twist. Many of the rooms also have superb views of the remarkable Aya Sofya museum. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms and have wifi internet access, satellite TV, mini-bar, tea and coffee making facilities, luxury bathrobes and slippers.
The hotel has a raised indoor restaurant where a plentiful buffet breakfast is served with fabulous views over the city, and a spacious terrace area where lunch and evening meals can be enjoyed. The Ottoman Imperial is home to ‘Matbah’ restaurant, which offers a splendid menu of fine Ottoman cuisine, a delightful place to sample some exquisite traditional Turkish dishes. On summer evenings it is well worth pre-booking a table on the terrace.

There is also a bar, and the Sultan’s Lounge to relax and enjoy a drink. There is also a small library area, with books on Turkish history, culture and Istanbul. There is complimentary wifi throughout the hotel.
The standard rooms at the Ottoman Imperial are approx. 18-20 sqm, these rooms face the main tram line.
