This immense eco-project provides guests with an utterly unique holiday experience, surrounded by the magnificence of nature, incredible architecture and the refreshing sounds of the sea echo from the private coves and bays below.
A second to none, eco-luxe paradise without equal, offering a first class holiday experience. The Houses of Gökçe Gemile are a work of art blending seamlessly with their surrounds while enjoying the magnificence of nature. Awe-inspiring architecture, art and a stunning bay life setting combine to provide guests with the most unusual and unrivalled of stays. And when it comes to service all you ever have to do is ask, an exquisite Turkish breakfast is served waterside on a complimentary basis throughout your stay- but thereafter if you wish to have a hotel style experience catered to your every whim- just let the Gokce Gemile team know and it will be modelled as per your requests.
Gemile is the first of the three houses located closest to the central entrance and it is possibly our favourite of the three. A living-breathing- watercolour, providing guests with the most wonderful level of privacy. Views from here take in the phenomenal St Nicholas Island and Bay of Gemile. As with the entire concept, the core value of this entire project was to preserve the areas surrounding unspoilt wilderness and magnificent bay-scape setting whilst offering the highest levels of comfort, privacy and luxury.
Built over two floors, Gemile merges seamlessly with the surrounding nature, while outside the visionary lake-style freeform swimming pool takes centre stage. The pool is enormous however most remarkable of all is the crafted over flow area below, where the water cascades providing a magical oasis to admire and enjoy. Paths meander away from the swimming pool back to the main house where several quiet areas have been created for you to enjoy the tranquil hum from resident cicadas. Practically, a gorgeous alfresco dining space provides a wonderful spot for long leisurely suppers under the twinkling milky-way. A shaded pergola and jacuzzi, carved out of a single rock provide respite from the sultry sun-baked sky.
The architectural design has been pioneered by Malik the owner and visionary behind the Gökçe Gemile masterpiece. The house has been painstakingly built using stones local to the region from the village of Eşen. The bricks gathered were taken from a collapsed ancient dry stone wall and repurposed to provide an authentic effect. Alongside the rustic materials, old beams have been used to provide a sense of warmth while walls of glass provide a contemporary feel and imbibe the far reaching views and surrounding forest scenery.
The enormous ground floor is the beating heart and place to gather. A well-appointed kitchen and large open plan dining and living space is an ideal place for entertaining and preparing meals for sharing that can be enjoyed inside or en plein air. The highlight of this space is the bright sitting room that has comfortably been designed to frame the stunning views while the vaulted ceiling provides a sense of theatre. Also on this level is a spacious twin bedroom suitable for friends sharing or children. Adjacent is a large en- suite shower room.
A handcrafted staircase leads up to the first floor where there are two excellent-size master bedroom each with enormous en-suites, crafted using wonderful stone masonry techniques. Each of the bedrooms has wonderful views over the gardens and towards St Nicholas Island and the bay of Gemiler. A fourth bedroom is located outside in a pod-style pool house this has twin beds and a shower w/c facility.
Beyond the house a pathway leads to a tunnel which descends onto the entrance of the funicular system which in turn glides through the tree line down to the private bays and coves of Gökçe Gemile- a paradise that is yours alone to enjoy.
On arrival at the beach front, a wooden staircase spirals down to the central sandy beach, bathing platforms, Club House and dedicated dining pergolas- of which each house has it’s own. The Club House is open throughout the day serving all manner of light bites to fuel your activities within the bay. The exceptional kitchen sets the tone each morning by preparing a sumptuous breakfast using the finest local and organic ingredients from nearby vegetable gardens and orchards as well as honey from local hives and olive oil from the region.
Beyond the immediate space to relax and unwind by the water’s edge are seven further coves as well as caves and other geological archway formations. The Gökçe Gemile team are extremely mindful of their environmental footprint and the bay’s flora and fauna. To this end, they are delighted to offer an array of non-motorised water sports, snorkelling equipment, kayaks and SUP, designed to allow guests the opportunity to explore the crystal clear water and sea life at their leisure. For those adrenaline junkies eager for something a little more racy- enquire locally with concierge and they can arrange for a water sports company to deliver some speedy toys- payable locally.
Gemile is a seriously elegant property that boasts complete harmony between the surrounding forest, wildlife and architectural design- it really is a property for those guests who treasure the very best.
